Voyage Summary
Dartmouth is a beautiful town in South Devon from where we start and end this short voyage. It lies at the western side of Lyme Bay which provides a number of fantastic ports to visit, known collectively as the English Riviera. Potential destinations include Brixham, Salcombe or Torquay. All provide great opportunities to explore, relax and enjoy. Sailing distances are shorter than on some of our voyages although there will be plenty of opportunity for you to join in the sailing of Irene.
Sailing Highlights
Sailing distances are kept shorter on these voyages so they provide an excellent opportunity for less experienced sailors to get on board and experience a traditional sailing trip, on a slice of maritime history. If you do have a little more experience, there will be plenty of time to help the crew in hoisting the sails, trimming the jibs and helming this old girl.

We will tailor the itinerary to the weather, conditions and wishes of our guests. However, highlights may include some of the following:
Brixham
This old fishing port now plays host to a fleet of traditional sailing trawlers as well as more modern pleasure boats and a small commercial fleet. Tourism is now as important as the maritime industry and with the harbour being in the centre of the town, it is easy to see why. It’s a lovely town and well worth a little time exploring the harbour and attractions.
Salcombe
Salcombe lies in the South Devon area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The large estuary and extensive waterfront has made it very popular with ship building over the years, although today, it is more focused on the leisure sailor. The town is well worth exploring. It’s boutique shops and great pubs and restaurants make it a favourite with tourists. The Maritime Museum is worth a visit, or for the more energetic, the South West Coast path passes through the town.
Lyme Bay
Lyme Bay runs from Portland Bill in the east to Start Point in the west. It is a great sailing ground with numerous bays and anchorages to enjoy some peace and tranquility. There’s some protection from the prevailing south westerly wind which generally means that conditions are more sheltered than further west. Ideal for a quiet night on anchor.
